3,000 AI-GENERATED ABUSE IMAGES DETECTED 😐

Deepfakes are labeled by many as one of AI’s greatest threats to humanity. 😳
What’s going on? The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has issued a chilling warning about the alarming proliferation of AI-generated child sexual abuse images (CSAM) on the internet, describing it as a realization of their "worst nightmares." The UK-based safety watchdog revealed that it had identified almost 3,000 AI-produced abuse images.
How is this happening? The IWF explained that AI technology was being used to create new depictions of real-life abuse victims by incorporating existing images into AI models. Even more disturbingly, it was discovered that AI was being used to "de-age" celebrities and depict them as children in explicit scenarios.
What’s the concern? The IWF's report highlights an acceleration in the use of AI for generating CSAM, further fueling concerns that AI imagery might soon become indistinguishable from genuine abuse images, posing a significant challenge to law enforcement agencies and threatens to distract them from detecting and addressing real child abuse. The illegal AI-generated material not only violates the Protection of Children Act (1978) but also the Coroners and Justice Act (2009), criminalizing non-photographic prohibited images of children. The UK government plans to address this issue through the online safety bill, requiring social media companies to prevent the spread of AI-generated CSAM on their platforms.
“If we don’t get a grip on this threat, this material threatens to overwhelm the internet.”
MICROSOFT SOARS ABOVE GOOGLE IN AI EARNINGS 🦅

The numbers never lie … and they are telling a bleak story for Google. 📉
What’s up? In the latest quarterly results, Microsoft's shares surged by 4%, adding approximately $100 billion to its market value, while Google's parent company, Alphabet, saw its market capitalization drop by around $100 billion as its shares declined by over 6%.
What was the difference? The disparity in their performance was particularly noticeable in the cloud computing market, where Microsoft's Azure platform unexpectedly rebounded with a 29% growth, defying expectations of a slowdown. This rebound was driven by new AI projects, which outweighed the pressures from customers optimizing their cloud usage. On the other hand, Google's cloud computing division lagged behind, with growth at 22%, below the 26% forecasted by investors. Despite Google's substantial investments in AI, Microsoft's more rapid growth in the cloud market was evident, despite Microsoft starting with a larger cloud business.
How did Microsoft perform so well? Microsoft's success in AI can be attributed to its early investment in a unified technology platform—incorporating OpenAI's models—which have become central to its AI infrastructure. This approach has allowed Microsoft to gain market share in the cloud business, primarily driven by AI-related projects. Overall, Microsoft has reported an impressive 13% increase in revenue compared to last year and earnings per share have risen by 27%, blowing away expectations.
AI DETECTS BREAST CANCER 2 YEARS BEFORE DIAGNOSIS 💪

Cancer sucks. 👎
What’s new? A new study published in the journal Radiology has highlighted the remarkable potential of AI in the early detection of breast cancer. The study examined data from BreastScreen Norway exams conducted between 2004-2019 and found that AI was able to predict 1/3 of breast cancer cases up to two years before an official diagnosis.
How did this work? Using a commercially available AI system, women who later received a breast cancer diagnosis were given AI risk scores. These scores were divided into low-risk, intermediate risk, and high-risk malignancy categories. AI considered factors like calcifications and breast density, along with mammographic features. The results were astonishing. Over 38% of the interval cancers (those detected between routine mammogram screenings) received a high-risk score from AI before the diagnosis. Even in cases where AI scores were available four years before diagnosis, 23% predicted high risk. This type of early detection could lead to less aggressive treatment, fewer side effects, and an improved quality of life for patients.
